| Surveys for invertebrates
are required for a wide range of developments, and to
guide the management of sensitive wildlife sites. Many
species of invertebrates are under-recorded nevertheless
they are still crucial to national biodiversity. Many
invertebrate species/groups have undergone significant
declines, and this is recognised through the statutory/non-statutory
status afforded to certain species.
Invertebrate survey is relevant in relation to the
Wildlife and Countryside Act, Section 74 (CROW Act)
and UK BAP species.
Pennine have undertaken aquatic invertebrate surveys
in relation to major pipeline projects and are currently
monitoring butterfly/dragonfly populations as part of
a nature reserve management plan.
