Mitigating the impacts on protected species forms a substantial part of our business. Successful mitigation requires good baseline survey, impact assessment and precise knowledge of the requirements of the species concerned, together with rigorous monitoring and overseeing of the project. These elements are combined in the method statement accompanying the licence application, required to develop areas where protected species are affected.

Pennine have been successfully granted various development licences from DEFRA (then DETR) since 2001. We currently hold several DEFRA licences in regard to ongoing development.

To date, post-development monitoring of these sites have revealed that the mitigation applied has been successful.
